Her maternal grandmother was brought up in the slums of Manila by her biological parents up to when she was 3 years old. Her adoption was later completed. The family she adopted is by an Filipino adoptive mother as well as an white American soldier. She claimed that both she and her adoptive brother had been abused since she was a young teenager, right up to the moment she joined up.
